There is no script as far as I'm aware."įollow Xfire on Google and be the first to get our latest content! It'll be interesting to see how 28 Months Later will pick up from the events of a film that premiered more than a decade ago. And so, the film is never going to happen unless those people start talking to each other again. When we made 28 Days Later, the rights were frozen between a group of people who are no longer talking to each other. However, Alex Garland's comments three years later illuminated why a sequel was highly unlikely, stating that: "I'll answer that completely honestly. I've got to think about it, whether it's right or not." Later the same year, in July, Danny Boyle hinted that there was an idea for how the story would progress if a sequel was given the green light, saying: "There is an idea for the next one, something which would move the story on. Despite receiving positive reviews from both audiences and critics, the sequel didn't perform as well as the original, a fact that seemed to put the brakes on any plans for a third installment.īack in June 2007, the producing company Fox Atomic asserted that they would consider making a third installment if DVD sales performed well. Quickly garnering critical acclaim and a cult following among audiences, 28 Weeks Later, a sequel to the first film, was produced 5 years later, with Juan Carlos Fresnadillo replacing Danny Boyle as the director. 28 Months Later could fit right in with the recurring Hollywood theme of soft reboots these days.ĭanny Boyle and scriptwriter Alex Garland made their mark on a dying horror genre that lacked direction and inspiration 20 years ago with the release of 28 Days Later. New reports have emerged suggesting that Danny Boyle, the director of the original cult classic film 28 Days Later, feels that now is the best time to fully commit to a sequel. I usually watch the movies of my favorite genre more that once. After a long wait, fans will be happy to hear that there is still hope for a sequel to the post-apocalyptic zombie film, 28 Weeks Later, 15 years later. The movie is decent on the first viewing but on subsequent viewings the warts really start to show. "Oh but he stopped running after the car started." Why did he do that? Just far enough to engulf him but far enough away to completely miss the car. When the flame guys fire up the soldier they are just a few yards behind the soldier. Even if he had to push it from the back, the flame guys appeared to be a hundred yards behind the survivors. I've always pushed it from the driver's side door in order to be able to jump in. Soldier goes to the back of the car to push it for a pop start. If they had shot the scene less cartoony he still would have still killed the infected but he would've done it with the exploding, burning debris of his French Helicopter. Also, those aren't saw blades, they're rotors. I mean two kids can leave a secure area while security watches them leave the secure area and it still takes security forever to catch up with the kids.Ī janitor (caretaker really) has access to a super secure area and even if he "ran the place" would he be allowed access to secure/dangerous area? Oh and he sneaked passed security (here is that Hollywood incompetence again) to get there. Once a movie turns into a cartoon not only can I not feel terror from the happenings on the screen but I then realize that I am watching a film my suspension of disbelief has failed. I thought 28 Weeks Later was badly written and cartoonish while 28 Days Later felt more real.
